Bubble Guppies Birthday Party!

Just over a month ago, our awesome niece Veronica turned 2! (You might already know that if you follow Julie's blog.) We had a fun afternoon celebrating Veronica with the fam, grandparents, and even Uncle Mark, Aunt Annie & Krista from out of town! She loves Bubble Guppies right now, so that was the theme for her day:

We actually had our professional camera kit in the car, but as the parents will know...we were busy doing a lot of different things that afternoon! Julie had her new(ish) phone, so just figured she'd grab some video with it on the fly. The phone? An HTC One M8. People have have hated on the camera on this phone, but after we'd caught a few great pics earlier in the month (we both own the same model), we were curious to see how it'd turn out in a format outside of the phone. The light in the house is not great for video, but we're happy with the outcome.

Proof. Nice framing on this photo, Uncle Mark!

It's definitely not our preferred camera, but it worked in a pinch. The added bonus? Veronica loves the video and dances to the music. She rocks!

Congratulations, Rachel and David!

We had the honor of shooting video for Rachel and David's wedding yesterday, July 19th. It was an awesome day, with a touching ceremony, a beautiful afternoon for a photo shoot downtown, and a fun reception at the University Club, overlooking Grand Rapids.

Edited videos coming soon, and can't wait to share. Congrats, Rachel and David!

Weddings galore!

The weather is warming up and love is in the air…yep, it’s wedding season!

One of the most recent projects we completed was a video for an April wedding shower (Congratulations Trevor & Shanley!).  Check out a similar video that we edited for our cousins Heather & Justin, who were married on November 3, 2012, below:

Everyone wants to make their wedding or celebration personal and unique. Video is the perfect way to tell your guests your story and highlight the bride, groom, or guest of honor! Tell us your ideas, and we’ll create a video that fits your style and theme. Videos are also a great keepsake from your wedding, and parents love them as a gift too! (Remember - Mother’s & Father’s Day are right around the corner!)

In the midst of “real life” and our Way Creative life, we are also planning our own wedding celebration on June 8th! We were married September 8th, 2012, and are looking forward to celebrating with all of our family and friends.

Invitation sneak peak!

Way Creative can also help you with your invitation design and printing! We’ll work directly with your printer (or help you find one!) so you don’t have to. Our invitations (sneak peek, above) were printed by Storr Printing in Grand Rapids.

How can we help you with your wedding this summer? Check out our services, and contact us for a custom quote! Dream it – we’ll help you create it.

Make it Work, Designers!

In honor of Throwback Thursday, I decided to post a throwback video!

In this 2009 parody, Tim Gunn of Project Runway fame (voiced by Keebler) explains why you should buy your new furniture from him.

The throwback:

It was early 2009 and I was in my final semester of the Television & Digital Media Production program at Ferris State University. While recording the voice-over for a commercial for a local furniture shop, Keebler and I got a little silly and decided to record a parody using one of his "characters". The result is the hilarious video above. I recently discovered the raw footage on my hard drive and had a great time listening to us laughing among catchphrases like “Make it work!” and “Oh geez!”

You can check out Keebler’s recent work on his Youtube page.

A 2013 Update

Hey everyone! I know we've been quiet, but big things have been in the works in the early part of 2013. Here's a quick update!

The most exciting news is that we now have a full HD camera kit, including lights and lavalier mics! What does this mean for you? The production process will flow even more smoothly in our coordinated approach. And, because all needed equipment is in-house, there are no extra costs to you.

Wondering how Way Creative can help you? Check out our Services page for a menu of services. We love meeting new clients and working with other area professionals, so contact us if you'd like to work together!

Square: the new Way to pay!

We recently finished working with our friend Ashley on a project for her work. After the videos were delivered and her presentation went smoothly, we passed on an invoice. I received an email back from Ashley:

“I think I already know the answer to this but…do you accept credit cards?”

As a matter of fact, yes we do! Way CREATiVE can now accept payments via credit card through Square. We can take your payment in person or enter your card manually. Small fees apply – 2.75% for a swipe and 3.5% for a manual entry. Totally worth it though, for the convenience for everyone!

Square card reader

There are other apps like this, but we use Square. We’ve had a great experience with them so far. Here are the top 5 reasons I’m digging Square:

1.    Obviously, my number one reason for loving Square is the convenience. For   everyone. Seriously.
2.    Customers can receive a receipt immediately via text or email.
3.    It works with Android or iPhone (we’re Team Android, but always appreciate compatibility) and all major credit cards.
4.    Square will reimburse you the $10 cost for their card reader or just send you a free one when you sign up. I do know someone who has successfully received their reimbursement. We have not claimed our rebate yet, so I’ll let you know how that goes.
5.    Square deposits payments into your account almost immediately. This feature is aimed more at the business owner, but think about it: as a consumer, who really wants pending transactions hanging around their checking account? Can you say overdraft fees? No. thank. you.

I am a new user to Square and still have a couple kinks to work out, so this is by no means a comprehensive review; but mobile payment is really the Way of the future. Although I have only used the app to accept a payment once, I have paid for haircuts and lunches through the Square app and truly appreciated the ease of it all from a customer’s perspective.

If you are a small business owner, I recommend this product and app! It’s so easy and there are so many options – it just makes sense.

Have you used Square or other mobile card readers? Connect with us and tell us what you think!
